Welcome to The American Preschool

We at The American Preschool understand that the early years in a child's life are the most crucial. In our EduPlay programs we strike a balance between autonomy and structure in our approach to education. We play, we laugh, we talk and we learn. We focus on developing the "whole child" through instilling social / life skills, independence, academic skills, creative skills and motivation for life long learning.

Philosophy
Learning takes place in the interaction between the individual and the environment.

We believe that it is in the early years of development that children form who they are as individuals. It is important to provide them with an emotionally and physically safe environment, which nurtures and supports the development of their physical, social, emotional, creative and cognitive skills. We strive to provide age appropriate learning programs that based on the principles of respect, responsibility, exploration, creativity and enjoyment to help children enjoy successful educational experiences. The family is a vital component of The American Preschool philosophy. We strive to work in a partnership with the family to benefit the child.

We think that parents and educators working together as a team create a structured and predictable environment which is emotionally and physically safe for children. In this environment children are empowered to believe that they have good ideas and that they can effect change. They are also free to discover how things work & learn to do things for themselves.

They are encouraged to make choices for themselves and learn that there are natural and logical consequences for their choices and behavior.

Our singular focus is on supporting the child's overall development in the most loving, nurturing and motivating manner possible. We offer our children experiences that will challenge them to grow intellectually, socially, emotionally, creatively and physically. Through the activities we plan and the way we organize the classrooms, select toys and materials, plan the daily schedule, and talk with children, we seek to accomplish the goals of our curriculum and give your child a successful start in school.

Our doors are open to families at all times and we encourage daily communication between parents and staff members. Parents and family members are encouraged to actively participate in our daily activities.

Goal

Our singular focus is on supporting the overall development of the child using the most positive guidance techniques available. By establishing consistent, age appropriate learning programs, we help the children function in their world. Our programs are designed to develop in children a sense of independence, social competence, confidence and responsibility.

The most important goals of our preschool curriculum are for children to become enthusiastic learners and get along well with others. We encourage children to see themselves as individuals who are confident, have ideas, are able to make decisions and be responsible for their feelings and actions. We also encourage children to be aware of themselves in relation to their environment and have empathy and respect for others.
